Motor Carrier
- Motor Carrier Load Tender-EDI 204: Used by shippers to offer a truckload or less than a truckload shipment to a carrier.
- Motor Carrier Freight Details and Invoice-EDI 210: Used by commercial truckers and other freight carriers. Typically sent from carrier to shipper, consignee, or third-party payment center for payment of freight charges.
- Motor Carrier Bill of Lading-EDI 211: Allows shippers or any other organization responsible for contracting with a motor carrier to provide a legal bill of lading for a shipment. Considered to be an exact depiction of a shipment as agreed to by each of the trading partners.
- Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message-EDI 214: Used to provide status information on a shipment, including information on pickup, delivery, and any delays or exceptions.
- Response to a Load Tender-EDI 990: Used by a motor carrier to accept or reject a shipment offer from a shipper. Usually triggered by receipt of a Motor Carrier Load Tender (EDI 204).
Shipping
- Shipping Instructions-EDI 304: Used by the shipper or freight forwarder to provide the carrier with detailed shipping instructions, including vessel details, container details, and other shipment details.
- Freight Receipt and Invoice (Ocean)-EDI 310: Used to solicit payment for an oceanic freight shipment.
- Status Details (Ocean)-EDI 315: Used by the carrier to provide status information on a shipment, including vessel information, container information, and other shipment details.
- Terminal Operations and Intermodal Ramp Activity-EDI 322: Used by the carrier to provide information on terminal operations and intermodal ramp activity.
- Confirmation of Booking-EDI 301: Used by the carrier to confirm the details of a booking made by a shipper or freight forwarder.

- Customers Reconciliation-EDI 750: Used by importers to file electronic customs declaration for goods entering the United States. Contains detailed information about imported goods including value, country of origin, and classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
Order Fulfillment
- Request for Routing Instructions-EDI 753: Used by the shipper to request routing instructions from the carrier, including information on mode of transportation, transit time, and carrier rates.
- Routing Instructions-EDI 754: Used by the carrier to provide routing instructions to the shipper, including information on mode of transportation, transit time, and carrier rates.
- Invoice-EDI 810: Used by carriers to invoice shippers for transportation services.
- Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN)-EDI 856: Provides detailed information about a shipment, including packing information, carrier information, and shipment contents.

- Warehouse Shipping Order-EDI 940: Used to request the shipment of goods from a warehouse to a specific location.
