The Challenge

Acquisitions are never simple matters, particularly when it comes to merging the technology of the various companies involved. A world class manufacturer of refrigeration systems discovered just how complex merging systems can be after acquiring numerous companies and became an acquisition themselves. Due to previous mergers and acquisitions, the manufacturer had multiple ERP systems in place, such as Bond, Oracle, and MAPICS. Managing and maintaining these systems required intensive IT efforts to keep data flowing between them and the firm’s vendors and clients, many of which used different file formats to transmit information. These efforts were supplied by the manufacturer’s parent company. But problems escalated when the manufacturer was bought from the parent company. The manufacturer was given an ultimatum – separate their systems from the parent company’s infrastructure within a certain timeframe and assume responsibility for all integrations and data connectivity. However, the parent company used Software AG’s webMethods as an integration tool. webMethods requires high technical expertise to develop and maintain, and the manufacturer’s IT resources were limited. A new solution was needed, and the deadline for separation was looming.

Partnering with Adeptia

The manufacturing firm knew they needed a non-technical integration solution. With limited IT resources, the platform needed be low-code for business users to manage and maintain. They found that solution in Adeptia’s comprehensive Enterprise Service Bus (ESB,) designed to integrate any application with any data at any location. Adeptia’s “configure, no code” approach enables business users to easily configure connections and solutions by using convenient wizards. IT executes the initial setup and provides appropriate governance and control but is not called upon to perform daily integration and management activities. By eliminating the need for custom coding, the manufacturer was able to implement Adeptia’s solution rapidly while beating it’s timeline by several months.

The Business Value

After implementing Adeptia’s solution, the manufacturer was able to:

  • Eliminated need for custom coding integrations to focus IT resources on high-value initiatives
  • Establish a low-maintenance, user-friendly platform for all partner, vendor, and customer interactions
  • Integrate multiple in-house ERP systems to maintain proper workflows and data connectivity
  • Empower business users with visibility into high quality data
  • Modernize ERP systems to make future integrations faster and simpler
  • Avoid costly penalties by implementing Adeptia’s solution several months ahead of schedule
